Simba&#8217;s Tootsie body (used for Dreamland series and others) is copied exactly on Gi-Go ponies (exact same hoof markings), and Simba symbols are reused on Gi-Go. Gi-Go also makes dolls, and these can be marked Simba on the head mold and Gi-Go on the sewn-in body tag. (Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/rover.ebay.com\/rover\/1\/711-53200-19255-0\/1?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp2047675.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3Dgi-go%2Bsimba%26_sacat%3D0&amp;campid=5337847502&amp;toolid=20008\">eBay listings<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p>The Tootsie pose was also used for the 1990&#8217;s Talk to Me Pony from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbb.org\/us\/ny\/gloversville\/profile\/toys\/slm-international-inc-0121-2556\">Buddy L\/SLM<\/a>, but the hoof markings on the Buddy L\/SLM are different from the Simba and Gi-Go Tootsie-style pose. From the examples I have seen, Simba and Gi-Go are <em>virtually identical<\/em> (&#8220;MADE IN&#8221; on slightly raised rectangle above CHINA); Buddy L talking pony has MADE IN CHINA spread out with one word on each hoof. Simba, in turn, copied the Buddy L design for a talking pony of their own, and a few other styles (<a href=\"http:\/\/mylittlewiki.org\/wiki\/Fakies#Simba\">see pictures here<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>My THEORY of order of events:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Simba copied Tootsie pose<\/li>\n<li>Buddy L made their own independent copy of Tootsie pose with their own head design<\/li>\n<li>Simba copied the Buddy L head<\/li>\n<li>Gi-Go acquired the Simba molds, and continued on to make a few different heads over the years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>But at the end of the day, that&#8217;s merely speculation!<\/p>\n<p>Other poses that Simba used and later appear in Gi-Go sets include the Lady Baby and Ember pose.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There appears to be some sort of relationship between Simba and Gi-Go.
